Sanctions Compliance Training

This course will cover:  

• what sanctions are, what they are designed to do and who issues sanctions 
• what sanctions matter (the UK, EU, UN and US) and how they affect you in your practice 
• insurance considerations and whether you are insured to act 
• how to ensure sanctions compliance – when to check, who to check and how to check, including reverse sanctions checks, and whether you can take a risk-based approach to checking 
• what do to if your client is sanctioned and how to apply for a licence 
• exceptions to the need for a licence 
• consequences of breach of the sanctions regime 
• latest news on sanctions and guidance available 
• SRA sanctions thematic review and what you should expect if you are chosen 
• reputation risk and firm policy line 

By the end of this online classroom, you will:   

• have an enhanced understanding of issues surrounding sanctions compliance 
• understand how to best implement sanctions compliance in their firm 
• know what to do and what not to do if a client is sanctioned and how to apply for a license 
• have an improved understanding of how to apply recent updates to their practices 
• know what to expect if the SRA conducts a sanctions thematic review on their firm 

Course format    

This online classroom consists of the following elements:    

• an SME presentation with opportunities for interaction, delivered using Microsoft Teams    
• an optional MCQ assessment, to obtain a certificate of completion    

Assessment   

In order to pass the assessment, you must achieve a mark of 80%.   

Length    

The online classroom will take 60 minutes, excluding the assessment.
