Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) – Legislation and Guidance

Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) are legal actions intended to intimidate and silence opponents. Recently, there has been a rise in these cases, raising public concerns about the potential abuse of the legal system, often targeting journalists and political activists. Lawyers who pursue such cases may be violating their professional responsibilities and the SRA Standards and Regulations.

This module is designed to help you understand the SRA’s guidance entitled ‘Warning Notice: Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation (SLAPPs)’ and further explore how solicitors and firms are expected to comply with their duties in this area.

Through videos, a realistic scenario and knowledge checks, this module harnesses AI and avatars to keep you engaged and aid information retention.
