What this will cover

In this course, training is given on the following areas of will drafting: 

  • drafting and planning a will where there is a risk of a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 
  • taking into account the burden of inheritance tax (IHT) when planning and drafting a will 
  • steps to minimise challenges on the basis of lack of testamentary capacity 
Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to: 

  • advise clients on whether there is a risk of a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 (1975 Act) 
  • advise clients on steps to minimise the chances of a 1975 Act claim succeeding 
  • draft wills to take account of the impact of IHT 
  • adopt procedures to minimise the risk of challenges on the basis of lack of capacity

Assessment 

In order to pass the assessment, you must achieve a mark of 80%. The assessment can only be taken a maximum of three times before the course must be taken again.
