Introduction to Professional Indemnity Insurance

  • the regulatory and contractual framework which surrounds PII and claims, which may impact on you
  • some basic details of PII and the meanings of some PII jargon
  • basic risk management you can use on your own caseload
  • guidance on what to do if you become aware of circumstances or a potential claim.
Learning outcomes

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • understand the importance of PII for solicitors and understand the regulatory framework
  • update your knowledge on details such as, what is and isn’t covered by PII, deductibles, top-up cover, and the importance of ‘claims made basis’
  • gain pointers on how to identify a high-risk matter within your caseload and what to do when an error is found
