Essential skills for practice – How to develop greater resilience

This micro-learning module explains what we mean by resilience and why it is particularly important in a legal profession that sets high standards for solicitors. Legal practice can be fast-paced and pressurised, this module will help you deal appropriately with mistakes and develop key resilience skills important in legal practice but less well-covered in legal education and training. These skills will help you develop greater resilience to adapt to changes and challenges to avoid becoming harmful to your wellbeing.

This module, aimed at newly qualified and aspiring solicitors explores the importance of resilience and helps you hone these essential skills for practice that employers and clients need.

Written by Emma Jones a senior lecturer in law at the University of Sheffield, who began her career as a solicitor in private practice.

Through videos, realistic scenarios and knowledge checks, this module harnesses AI and avatars to keep you engaged and aid information retention.

This module is part of our essential skills for practice programme. The programme will run throughout 2025 and is designed to give you all the skills, knowledge and attributes needed to flourish in your early career, irrespective of where or how you practice.
