Essential skills for practice – Emotional intelligence for solicitors

Applying emotional intelligence to your work as a solicitor is an essential skill that can assist in interacting with and retaining clients, working well with colleagues and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This course introduces you to the concept of emotional intelligence and considers key skills included within this term, including acknowledging and interpreting the emotions of others, and regulating your own emotional responses.

Through easy to understand chapters, this course written by Emma Jones a senior lecturer in law at the University of Sheffield, who began her career as a solicitor in private practice includes realistic scenarios and knowledge checks that explore how emotional intelligence can be developed and applied in the legal workplace to enhance with practising as a solicitor.
