What this will cover

This course will cover:   

  • completing due diligence to investigate title, complete searches, and note any covenants, restrictions or other complications, for example, environmental laws 
  • contract negotiation and terms including lease agreements, purchase agreements, and financing documents 
  • regulatory compliance with council and government regulations 
  • financing options available and securing the necessary funding 
  • preparation and review of closing documents, and ensuring all conditions of the sale are met 
  • tax implications such as property taxes, capital gains taxes, and potential tax benefits 
  • registration requirements for leases, transfers, charges, and stamp duty land tax 
Learning outcomes

By the end of this online classroom, you will be able to: 

  • distinguish between different property types and assess suitability for intended use  
  • explain effective due diligence, including title investigations, searches, and assessment of covenants, zoning, and environmental laws  
  • develop strategies to negotiate and draft key property contracts  
  • ensure compliance with relevant council and government regulations   
  • understand the tax implications of property transactions, such as property taxes, capital gains taxes, and potential tax benefits 
  • prepare and review all necessary closing documents, ensuring all conditions of the sale are met 
How you will learn

Course format     

This online classroom consists of the following elements:     

  • an SME presentation with opportunities for interaction, delivered using Microsoft Teams    
  • an optional MCQ assessment, to obtain a certificate of completion   

Assessment   

In order to pass the assessment, you must achieve a mark of 80%.
