CQS Core Training: Protocol in Practice

Use of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Protocol is required for CQS-accredited conveyancers. Understanding the obligations required of you when using the Protocol will help you maintain high standards of professionalism, and ensure transparency and efficiency when acting in conveyancing transactions.

In short, easy-to-understand modules, you’ll cover the key issues and risks facing conveyancers today, including AML risk assessment, advising leasehold buyers, reporting matters to lender clients, minimising risks when advising on SDLT/LTT, and complying with undertakings.

This course is not an alternative to reading the Protocol. The Protocol is expected reading for all conveyancers, and questions testing knowledge and understanding of the Protocol will be included in the assessment at the end of this course.

Completion and Post-Completion (by Surekha Gangakhedkar and Tracey Calvert)

Learning outcomes

By taking this course, conveyancers should have a greater understanding of:

The general obligations of the Law Society Conveyancing Protocol.
The procedures to follow when acting for the buyer/seller.
Completing the relevant Transaction forms.

How you will learn

Course format
This interactive online training consists of the following elements:

An interactive course presentation, with a variety of quizzes and practice scenarios to test understanding of the material.
Online assessment.

Our modules conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1. However, some members may require an alternative version for accessibility purposes. This is available upon request via our contact us form.

Assessment
The assessment consists of 20 multiple choice questions. In order to pass the assessment you must achieve a mark of 80%. The assessment can only be taken a maximum of three times before the course must be taken again.

This course is not an alternative to reading the Protocol. The Protocol is expected reading for all conveyancers, and questions testing knowledge and understanding of the Protocol will be included in the assessment.

The quizzes and scenarios included in the course presentation are intended to aid your understanding of the content and offer the opportunity to apply your knowledge. They do not form part of the assessment.

Length
The course will take approximately 2 hours to complete, excluding assessment.
