CQS Core Training: The Role of the Senior Responsible Officer

This assessment needs to be completed by a firm’s senior responsible officer (SRO) only.

It has been designed to meet the requirements of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme, which stipulate that the firm’s SRO is required to undertake mandatory training outlining the duties and responsibilities of their role.

The SRO must complete this mandatory assessment within six months of the practice being awarded initial CQS accreditation. If the practice gets a new SRO, they must complete this assessment within six months of starting the position.

Required prior knowledge

You should ensure that you are familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the Senior Responsible Officer by reading all scheme documentation before taking the assessment. You should pay specific attention to the following:

  • CQS Scheme Rules
  • Application form
  • Guidance notes to the application form

Learning outcomes

SRA competence: A1  +1 more for SRA competence: A1, A2

What this will cover
  • An online assessment of 15 questions.
  • You only have two attempts to achieve the pass mark.
  • In order to pass the assessment you must achieve a mark of 80%.
