Client Care
After completing this module you will understand: 

  • The importance of managing client expectations. 
  • How to use effective communication to provide appropriate client care (including the need to agree the method and frequency of communications). 
  • The importance of considering client attributes and adapting your service delivery style accordingly. 
  • Your duty to provide a competent service to clients. 
  • Your duty to provide sufficient cost and disbursement information. 
  • Your complaints handling duties. 

Confidentiality and Disclosure
After completing this module you will:  

  • Understand the SRA’s regulatory expectations of you and your law firm in relation to confidentiality and disclosure. 
  • Be able to identify your professional duties in respect of confidential information. 
  • Be able to recognise when your duties to keep matters confidential can be overridden. 
  • Understand your duty of disclosure and the conflict that can arise between this and the duty of confidentiality. 
  • Understand the regulatory consequences of making the wrong decision about confidentiality and disclosure duties. 

Conflict of Interest
After completing this module you will: 

  • Understand the SRA’s regulatory expectations of you and your law firm in relation to conflict of interest. 
  • Be able to identify an own interest conflict and a client conflict of interest in practice. 
  • Recognise what you should do if you identify a conflict of interest. 
  • Know when it is acceptable to continue acting for a client when a conflict has been identified. 
  • Understand the regulatory consequences of making the wrong decision about a conflict of interest. 
How you will learn

Course format
This interactive online training consists of the following elements. 

  • An interactive course presentation, with a variety of quizzes and practice scenarios to test understanding of the material. 
  • Online assessment.

Assessment
In order to pass the assessment you must achieve a mark of 70%. The quizzes and scenarios included in the course presentation are intended to aid your understanding of the content and offer the opportunity to apply your knowledge. They do not form part of the assessment.
